General Reporting / Data Collection Principle
GCP Progress aims to collect data on the most important topics to support actions for developing a sustainable coffee supply chain. For more information on which data we aim to collect and aggregate, please refer to Our indicator sets.
The GCP Progress Software is designed to provide data collection on field level as well as aggregated reporting. The different Levels are described in the following.
Field level reporting
The term "Field level" is self-explaining and describes measurement/collection of relevant data for sustainable coffee farming on producer level, where data is collected right from the producers household and related plots.
Aggregate reporting
Acknowledging that many supply chain members on different levels maintain production data, a lot of information is already available on different levels throughout the coffee supply chain. This data is also crucial for measuring impact of sustainable coffee production and to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. So to provide an easy solution for data alignment and contextualization we aim to also provide reporting on an aggregated level, where i.e. farmer cooperatives or traders can report bulk data in form of numbers on producers and practices out of their supply chain.
Naturally different issues and concerns are attached to this information. For more information on how we deal with these concerns, please refer to What happens with my data? in the FAQ.
Aggregation & Analysis
What is reporting or data collection without aggregation?! While the reports as such are still in development we work on providing reports on the indicators mentioned in "Our Indicator Sets". These reports provide statements on one indicator per report and can be filtered by time frames or regions. Exporting report data is another helpful feature of GCP Progress. Our reports are always aggregated and do not provide or expose any personal information or data, which can be related to personal references.
Acquisition Periods
The general acquisition period is always the last 12 months back from the date of reporting/data collection. This means, that all information provided into the questionnaires of GCP Progress always should cover the last 12 months. However, we allow for more frequent reporting/data collection based on your requirements. Some programs/initiatives might require a 6 month basis (or even shorter) e.g. to monitor NSC adoption & progress as well as impact more closely.
Farm Visit
General acquisition period is 12 months
NSC Questionnaires
General acquisition period is 12 months, but you can decide to report/collect data on a more regular basis. Reporting more frequently than 2 times per year is not recommended, as we have to expect a certain timeframe between NSC practices training, respective adoption and especially the impact of the adopted practices.
